When you think of boxing, one name likely comes to mind: Mike Tyson (Okay, and likely Muhammad Ali, too). This week, the ex professional boxer has been making airwaves as rumors circulate around his social media posts that suggest he may be retrieving his gloves from retirement.

At 53, the Brooklyn-born boxer looks as fit as a fiddle, and it’s in no small part thanks to his vegan diet (and, you know, giving up cocaine), as he revealed to Oprah in 2013. “Becoming a vegan gave me another opportunity to live a healthy life. I was so congested from all the drugs and bad cocaine, I could hardly breathe,” Tyson said. “High blood pressure, almost dying, arthritis, and once I became a vegan all that stuff diminished.”

As vegan lifestyle site, Plant Based News, reported, we may be seeing more of the powerful athlete in the near future. In fact, a recent Instagram Live session with the rapper T.I. showed the boxer revealing to fans that he has been spending a lot of time working out and is even considering some exhibition bouts, saying: “I’ve been hitting the mitts for the last week. That’s been tough, my body is really jacked up and really sore from hitting the mitts,” he said, per Plant Based News.

“I’ve been working out, I’ve been trying to get in the ring, I think I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape. I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff,” he continued in his chat with T.I.

And we thought our daily plank challenge in coronavirus quarantine was impressive.
