Do you ever have way more oranges than you know what to do with? Maybe you have a citrus tree in your backyard. Or you just can’t resist those big bags of oranges that show up at the farmer’s markets. Or you’re like me and your CSA dumps about 30 oranges on you every week from January through August. Regardless, fresh squeezed orange juice is definitely one of the finer things in life. I’m not even all that into juice in general but man, orange juice that was just squeezed a couple minutes before is so good!
Squeezing them by hand feels pretty inefficient, and using a full on juicer seems to me like overkill for a regular glass of OJ, so I invested 15 bucks and a bit of cabinet space in the Black & Decker Citrus Juicer and I haven’t regretted it. You just slice the oranges in half and press them down on the juicey spinny thing (yes, that’s it’s official name) and it starts spinning automatically. You can even adjust it depending on how much pulp you like in your juice.
I’d say you can make a couple of big glasses of orange juice in around 5 minutes or so, and then you just throw the parts in the dishwasher so cleanup is really easy. There’s also a large and small attachment so you could use it for smaller citrus like limes and lemons as well. Ooh, fresh squeezed margaritas!
