Hydrate your skin!

Ever feel like your expensive, multi-step skincare routine isn’t quite doing all the magic you’d hoped? Ritual has created a solution for dry skin and wrinkles, in the form of a once daily skin hydration supplement. HyaCera features two of the best clinically studied ingredients to promote glowing skin from the inside out.

Never heard of HyaCera? It comes from the combination of the names of its two key ingredients: Hyabest and Ceratiq. Hyabest is a bio-fermented, lower molecular weight hyaluronic acid to help support glowing, hydrated skin. Ceratiq is made from sustainably harvested plant oil extract containing glycolipids and ceramides and aids in the skin barrier function, promoting smooth skin (say bye to dehydrated skin and  fine lines!) and supports full body hydration.

The Ingredient Breakdown

Let’s break it down even further. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that our bodies produce naturally and has been found in our eyes, joints, and skin. Hyaluronic acid is extremely good at retaining water; a quarter of a teaspoon of this substance contains about one and a half gallons of water. As a result, it’s often used for treating dry eyes and is also used in moisturizing creams, lotions, ointments, and serums. If that wasn’t enough, it also helps our skin stretch and flex, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and also has been proven to help wounds heal faster and reduce scarring.

Ceratiq is a lipid extracted from wheat grain; a plant extract rich in polar lipids and is commonly used as a nutritional supplement for skin moisturizing. As we age, structural changes can disrupt the function of our skin barrier, often resulting in skin dryness caused by transepidermal water loss. In clinical trials, Ceratiq has been proven to increase the skin’s hydration levels and also yield smoothness in the skin’s texture.

This once daily capsule can be taken morning or night, with or without food, or even among your other daily supplements. It also has a vanilla essence as an additional perk! In clinical trials, HyaCera supported hydrated skin after 90 days of daily use – so Ritual recommends this routine for its users as well!

This product is vegan, gluten-free, made-traceable, Non-GMO Project verified, and third party tested for heavy metals and microbes.

My Review

As someone who has dealt with eczema, very sensitive skin, and, more recently, adult acne, I was very excited to see if this product would work for me and my skin. As I have been pushing through this acne journey, I have tried almost every trick in the book, from testing a variety of topical skincare products to dietary changes to increasing my water intake. I always wondered if my skin was over-producing oil and thus causing excess sebum build up as a result of a lack of internal hydration. After confirmation of this hypothesis with an aesthetician, I was very interested in considering the supplement route to hydrate from within, but wasn’t sure where to start. When Ritual reached out, I figured what better time to try a product with very minimal ingredients and those in which have been clinically proven to yield results.

I have completed the 90 day trial of HyaCera and am very impressed with the results. Overall, my skin feels very hydrated and smooth to the touch, I haven’t experienced any eczema flare ups, and as the winter months approach, this is really important to me. I am also experiencing the same results with my face. I don’t feel like I need to reapply a new layer of moisturizer every couple of hours, my active breakouts have been minimized and my skin is visibly less irritated and red. Throughout this trial period, I have kept my skin care routine the same, using a gentle cleanser and exfoliant, a moisturizer rich with emollients, and a 30 spf sunscreen. Every now and then I will utilize a face mask that locks in moisture (and to create that self-care feel, of course!).

In August, I wrote about an analysis for a comprehensive shower routine. You may find extra benefits within that article to supplement any skin care issues you’re having.

After completing the 90 day trial, I would recommend Ritual’s HyaCera supplement to anyone. Who doesn’t need hydration?! You truly can’t beat a vegan product clinically proven to increase hydration and reduce fine lines. If you sound like me and feel this innovative product could help with your dry skin issues, I encourage you to try it out. Ritual offers a wide range of alternative supplements to promote overall healthy living.
